We have enjoyed a lovely few days off of work and opted for a staycation here in beautiful Barcelona. It’s been nearly 3 years since we arrived in Barcelona and we have never taken the time to visit the beautiful peaks of Montserrat. Today we took the 1 hour drive to this beautiful mountain town…
For those of you who don’t know. Montserrat is a breathtakingly beautiful Benedictine monk mountain retreat North West from Barcelona. We decided to drive and park which was actually quite easy thanks to making sure we got there early and mid-week. Apparently the weekends are mental.
Not only is Montserrat Monastery of significant religious importance but the natural beauty surrounding the monastery is simply spectacular. Dan and I got the funicular to the top of the peaks and went for a little walk along the top. The views are simply stunning and the rock formations unlike anything I have ever seen. A return trip in the funicular to the top of the peaks for two people was €21.00.
We had such a fun day today. It’s sometimes so easy to simply work, eat and sleep and it’s days like these where you make the effort to see the beauty around you that you stop and appreciate your life.
I am thankful everyday for the choices we made to live here in Spain but it’s always good to remind myself of how close we are to some of the worlds most beautiful and iconic landmarks.
Love,
